The Williams Lab uses a combination of enzyme engineering, metabolic engineering, microbiology, synthetic biology, and organic chemistry, to access various non-natural small molecules and natural products for drug discovery and chemical biology.

Prof. Williams is a member of the Comparative Medicine Institute at NC State and the BIT Program Training Faculty.

Gavin is also the Vice President of the NC State Chapter of Sigma Xi.
